WATER KEFIR FROM THE HAGUE
HIBISCUS & MINT
We especially love drinking this one in the summer. The mint gives a lovely hint of freshness, whilst the hibiscus flowers add a deliciously juicy and fruity note.
Mint has a soothing effect on the digestive system and hibiscus is known to be packed with vitamin C.
We added dried butterfly pea flowers to this one to give it the beautiful color. The lavender gives a light, floral flavor to the water kefir – a nice balance to its natural zing.
Apart from being very calming and improving sleep, lavender also has numerous other health benefits, such as boosting your immune system and supporting the digestive health.
FIG & LEMON
This is the classic among water kefir! Dried figs add extra sweetness to this flavor, which is a great combination with the fresh lemons. It’s kind of like a fizzy lemonade, but packed with probiotics that make your tummy really happy!
WHAT IS WATER KEFIR?
Water kefir is a fermented probiotic drink made with water, sugar and water kefir grains. Water kefir grains are made up of lactic acid bacteria and yeasts. When the grains are added to a liquid containing sugars, the lactic acid bacteria and yeasts in the grains go to work. They feed on the sugars in the liquid, converting it to lactic acid, alcohol and carbon dioxide gas. This process is called “Fermentation”.
The end result is a fizzy low-alcoholic (less than 1%) fermented beverage that’s packed with probiotic cultures. Which means it’s full of healthy bacteria.
WHY SHOULD I DRINK IT?
Water kefir supplies your gut with loads of healthy bacteria and yeasts. These healthy bacteria and yeasts help the body in a numerous amount of ways. They make for a healthy balance of ‘good’ and ‘bad’ bacteria in the gut, improving your overall digestion and giving your immune system a boost.
Also the following vitamins can be found in water kefir: B1 (Thiamine), B2, B6, B12, C, D and H (Biotin). So you can imagine that drinking a glass of water kefir every day will have loads of different health benefits.
HOW DO I USE IT?
If you have never tried water kefir before, we recommend you start out by drinking an ini mini glass (about 50mL) each day and slowly build it up to an amount that works best for you. If the bacteria in your gut are very unbalanced, drinking water kefir might initially cause some adverse reactions because the ‘good’ bacteria are replacing the ‘bad’ bacteria. This is perfectly normal and will improve after the bacteria in your gut have regained a healthy balance.

We are Charlie & Jared. We have been brewing our own water kefir from our home in Den Haag since 2017 and have noticed the benefits from drinking it every day. So why not share these benefits with you?
Both of us really enjoy making homemade products, recycling and reusing products. This way we try to make our environmental footprint as small as possible. Our labels and tags are hand-made from recycled paper and used cardboard. We make our own glue as well from natural ingredients.
